SolidWorks | How to Create an Extrusion Not Normal to the Sketch Plane

Posted on August 4, 2025August 4, 2025 By TSE

Hi Everyone, in this tutorial, you will learn how to make an extrusion not normal to the sketch plane on SolidWorks in a few simple steps.

  1. The first step will be choosing the TOP PLANE; we need it to create a sketch on it.

2. Create a Centered Rectangle.

3. Create Dimensions of 100mm.

4. The next step will be selecting the top plane. We will create a new sketch, it will be a Line.

5. Create a Line starting from the center, see image below.

6. Exit the workbench, go to features, click on the extruded boss/base command, add 30mm for the extrusion dimension, then select the line for the pad direction.
